iSwing Top 40 – March 2020 by JC JSum

Welcome back to the blog swingers. I’m your host JC JSum. Cut Capers ruled the iSwing chart last week. Can they hang on for a second week? Keep reading to find out. Seven new entries this week. First up at 38, Ray Charles with, “Night Time Is The Right Time (Dave Wave Remix)“. Little Violet comes in with her latest and it is an epic collaboration. Epic enough to chart already after being released just a couple days ago. Odd Chap remixed her, “Silent Movie” and it debuts at 36. Odd Chap doubles up on his debuts this week as well. Madam Misfit and Odd Chap enter at number 27 with the very frisky single, “Everybody Wants To Be A Cat”.

Matt Forbes remakes “Too Marvelous For Words,” and it comes in at 32. A bitter rumoured Public Enemy breakup was trending news for the rap group this week. They also debut on our chart for the first time. Papa Tony, Public Enemy and Hijack arrive at 31 with, “Kwinto Criminal.” The rumour wasn’t true. And coasting in on momentum from his headlining gig at, Electro Swing Party Japan Volume 6, is Kiwistar. He arrives with his latest, “Whistling Journey,” featuring Red Oak, Josh and Le Chat, at number 30. Clips from the highly successful party were trending all week.

Most of the entries take place in the bottom portion of the chart, with the exception of one. The “Evolution Of The Friends Theme Song,” by Postmodern Jukebox and a host of big talent like Casey Abrams, Olivia Kuper Harris and The Rembrandts, is the Top Swingin’ Debut this week. It lands at number 13.

The popular new version of the Friends Theme, is from the new album from Postmodern Jukebox, Back When They Called It Music 90’s Volume 1. Caravan Palace fall to number 10 with former Number 1, “Melancolia” to start off the Top 10.

This week’s Big Swinging Shoutout goes to Duke Skellington. The Vaude Villainz music producer releases his first solo EP this week, Devils, Dames N Debauchery. Temperatures will rise with these sinfully delicious tracks. So hot, even climate change activists will picket them. Sadly, the ultra funky, “Where Did You Get Those Shoes)(Duke Skellington Remix),” at number 9, isn’t included on the EP. It’s by Oh My God It’s The Church and is the only song to enter the Top 10 this week.

Dutty Moonshine Big Band and Hypeman Sage spend a second week at 8 with their latest, “Big Band Fam.” OR3O jumps two positions to land at 7 with, “Help Me.” Last weeks Number 1, “Let’s Start Again (Odd Chap Electro Swing Remix),” by Cut Capers falls to 6.

Juda-Bug jump five spots to number 5 with latest banger, “Here We Go Again.” Little Violet climbs three spots to 4 with, “Limits (Jamie Berry Remix).” Varrick Frost’s “Clockwork,” spends time at number 3 for a second week. As do MelleeFresh and SpekrFreks with the underground speakeasy smash, “Murder (Extended Mix).” They spend a second week at number 2.

And the newest Number 1 belongs to first time chart toppers, Swinghoppers. I guess if you rap about going straight to the top, it happens. “S Gon Give It To Ya,” makes a four position jump to take over the top spot. Jumping four positions into Number 1 is quite a feat this high up on the chart. The last song to do so, or better, was Emma Clair’s, “Thriller Hands,” which jumped from 8 to 1 the first week of November last year.

That’s it for iSwing Top 40. Check back again to see how your favourite song is doing on the chart. Will Parov Stelar chart with new song “Brass Devil?” Will SwingHoppers hang on to Number 1, or will MelleeFresh and SpekrFreks steal the throne? Or who knows what other surprises will happen? Until then, keep your head in the clouds and keep swinging for the stars.
