LadyDot Review: Piano Concerto in E minor No. 1

A masterly electro swing interpretation of a concerto by a master of the Romantic era.
Wolfgang Lohr & DanyloM – “Piano Concerto in E minor No. 1”

After the fantastic version of “Ballade No. 1” by Frédéric Chopin, which made us dance and found its way into our “favourite” playlists, I was sure that this was not the last collaboration between Wolfgang Lohr and DanyloM. I was eagerly waiting for the next track from this brilliant duo. When I found out that this time they will record their interpretation of a fragment of Felix Mendelssohn’s violin concerto, I was very happy. And although I’m not a specialist in classical music, I think that in every, absolutely every musical genre you can find something for yourself. And the electro swing song from Wolfgang Lohr and DanyloM is really worth your attention – I guarantee that you will enjoy the “Piano Concerto in E minor No. 1”, even if you are not fond of the classical version.

Originally this piece was composed for violin. And here we have a surprise: the well-known and popular DanyloM comes into action with his oldschool piano. I already wrote on the occasion of “Ballade No.1” how impressed I am by his amazing talent. I’m very happy that he is so appreciated on TikTok. And if I were to create an account on this portal, it would probably be mainly to see his videos! :)

In some parts of the “Piano Concerto in E minor No. 1” (I mean the moment from the 35th to the 50th second) I would love to hear DanyloM playing the harpsichord instead of the piano. I love the buzzing sound of that instrument and think it would fit perfectly here. A bit like Louise-Claude Daquin’s “Le Coucou”.

“Piano Concerto in E minor No. 1” has an energetic, danceable tempo, great elements played on the trumpet and a brilliant addition of the violin in the background – so as to hark back a little to the original from classical music. It all sounds really great together!

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’ve been a big fan of Wolfgang Lohr for several years now. I can honestly say that there are not many artists who have such an amazing musical intuition and enormous talent. Because it’s not just about composing, choosing sounds and releasing more and more good songs. The most important thing is that he has a big heart for music, which is open to collaboration with other artists, to whom he gives a chance for a great career. And such a career awaits DanyloM. I wish it for him with all my heart!
