Summer Electro Swing vibe that will warm you up on an autumn evening! Balduin & Wolfgang Lohr feat. J Fitz – “New Ground”

You all know that I could write endlessly about the works of Wolfgang Lohr and Balduin. For me they are the true Electro Swing stars, without whom this music genre would not be the same. They are people with great imagination, who are characterized by great craftsmanship in choosing every sound, composing catchy melodies and inviting really excellent vocalists for their songs. Today I’m going to tell you what I think about their new song “New Ground”.

This vocal warms us up!

This is my thirtieth (!) review I have published on Electro Swing Thing. And you know what? Sometimes I feel like when I write about an artist, he/she records more and more new songs with other Electro Swing artists. You don’t even know how happy I am about it, even though I know I don’t have much influence on it. :)

I already wrote about J Fitz on the occasion of “Yato” and “Puttin’ On the Ritz”. And now, in “New Ground”, this amazing guy shows more and more unique, original colours of his voice. It’s like Chris Cornell combined with Aloe Blacc is singing for us. Totally! I feel every word he sings in this song – his emotional vocals will reach even the most frozen heart.

I have a feeling that this is just the beginning of what J Fitz is going to show us next. I look forward to his next collaborations, believing that I will discover even more fire in him!

Electro Swing – rays of sun closed in the music

Do you also feel the same way, that after listening to your favourite artists for many years you can immediately recognise their contribution to other songs? In the case of Wolfgang Lohr and Balduin‘s collaboration, I have no doubts as to who added each individual element to “New Ground”. The intro is a joint effort – I can hear it perfectly. The famous trumpet in the passages – even if someone woke me up in the middle of the night (well, then quoting one of Balduin’s songs I would surely say “I Need Sleep” :)), I would immediately say that this melody was created by the brilliant Wolfgang Lohr. I will always associate the brass section with the sun – and “New Ground” is such a little ray that positively spurs me on!

Hey, Balduin, did you think I forgot about you? Never in my life! Anyway, you don’t let me forget about you, constantly doing good Electro Swing work. Between the verses and the chorus I can hear you very well: this theme, which reminds me a bit of the song “Melody”, is so perfect that it quickly becomes memorable. And of course it makes it impossible to sit still. As usual with your songs! :)

Summary: a spark of hope for summer to come sooner

Someone in a comment on YouTube wrote that he associates “New Ground” with holidays, summer. I feel exactly the same, despite the fact that it’s getting colder and the leaves are falling off the trees so quickly. Fortunately, your level of positivity will not drop after listening to this track! I guarantee you that “New Ground” brings a whole new freshness to Electro Swing. You don’t have to wait so long for summer to feel it now, in autumn. Warm, pleasant vibe will let you fly totally high, above the clouds. Or fall down to land on completely new ground. :)
