Biography – Captain Matt

Captain Matt is the artist name of Matthias Heiligensetzer, piano player and composer from Munich, Germany. Back in the 90s, Matthias went touring as a band musician and soloist on jazz festivals, clubs and theaters. He backed some musicians of the famous ́Comets ́, Bill Haleys sidemen touring through Europe with the ́Bill Haley Orchestra ́.

His roots are Boogie Woogie, early Blues and Swampland grooves down from New Orleans. His main idols are the likes of Ray Charles, Dr. John, Oscar Peterson, Albert Ammons, James Booker or Allen Toussaint, just to name a few.

He released the following albums:

From 2016 he started doing Electroswing projects . His release ́Nasty Boogie ́ (2016) by Mondo Exotica hosted their hit ́Stereophonic Swing ́, which was further released on the Berlin based sampler Electro Swing Revolution, Vol. 7.

A further project was the Electroswing Remix ́Cheek to Cheek ́ by Berlin based producer Wolfgang Lohr, who released the song together with DJ Odd Chap and reached no. 1 on Spotify ́s Electro Swing Playlist.

With his smashing song ́Sit up, take me ́, Captain Matt picks up his roots traditions and transforms then in a modern, catchy Electro Blues piece.
