LadyDot Review: Mr. Jazzek – Chicago
Welcome to the Electro Swing party in America! Mr. Jazzek – “Chicago”
Mr. Jazzek is a very versatile artist. He draws inspiration for his new songs not only from Electro Swing, but also from disco and house music. And today, with his new release “Chicago”, he takes us all the way to North America. In my opinion, not to the state of Illinois, where this city is located, but rather somewhere in the vicinity of New Orleans. Where the sound of the saxophone has reigned on the city streets for many decades.
Already after the first sounds many people associate it with samples from “Booty Swing” by Parov Stelar. Yes, I agree, but did you know that in fact this characteristic motif comes from the song “Paswonky” by Fats Waller, which he composed in… 1936? It’s no secret that Electro Swing is a music genre that relies heavily on using samples of songs from the 1920s and 1930s. Let’s take a look at “Black Coffee” for example – there have been plenty of different Electro Swing versions of this song and no one is accusing anyone of anything. So think about that the next time you listen to “Chicago”. And then I guarantee that you will find many more interesting elements. Mr. Jazzek composed it really interestingly and none of the sounds was added accidentally.
Be sure to pay attention to the fantastic saxophone, which makes all of a sudden a lot of sunshine come into our homes. Yes, you remember it very well! All parts of this instrument were recorded by Marcin Stachowiak, who could also be heard on the song “Stay” by Mr. Jazzek and the fantastic singer Alanna Lyes. His saxophone playing is so characteristic that I recognised him after a few sounds. And I immediately felt that New Orleans jazz vibe!
The best summary of this song is one of the comments that was posted on YouTube. Someone wrote that he was currently living in Chicago. When he woke up and heard “Chicago”, his day suddenly became better. I hope that when you listen to this composition, you too will feel good – no matter what part of the world you live in.

Bio – LadyDot
Anna (LadyDot) was born in ’94, but always felt she came from the Golden Twenties. “Polka” in Polish means “girl from Poland”, so she’s “Polka in polka dots”. She loves vintage style and spontaneous travels around Europe. But her greatest love (apart from her husband) is of course music, especially Electro Swing.
On her own Blog www.jawizeruk.pl she writes about various music genres. She is a copywriter, so writing is her strong point. Anna likes singing (not only in the shower!) and cooking (especially Italian and Hungarian cuisine).
